Week 2 - Extention Year 3/4

Today we talked about what we would be doing in ICT this term for the extention group.

Year 3 will be exploring the use of I Can Animate to make animations about a particular animal that they choose. Today they explored the animation software and how to get things moving. They learn't the importance of the duplicating key. If they don't duplicate there animation won't work.

Here is an example of a child exploring on I Can Animate.



Year 4 will be exploring photography. They will learn to take a variety of shots and upload them to I Photo. Later on in the term they will explore uploading them to Animoto and then onto their class blogs.

Today we explored the camera and looked at the zoom button and focus button. We looked at a variety of close up and extreme close up shots on the internet and then took a few of our own. We discovered that we need to be creative when taking the pictures.

Week 2 - Year 0/1 Kid Pix Drawing Details

Today in ICT we drew our own animals. We looked at a picture of a Kiwi and found all the special parts like the long sharp beak, beady eyes, feathers, two feet, brown colour. Our teacher then showed us how to draw it using Kid Pix we had to look at all the details and the colours. We were then given our own picture of an animal and we looked at it carefully and then drew it using the tools in Kid Pix.

We explored the software today. Children used the pencil and pointers to draw and colour a ball. Children then clicked and moved the ball and duplicating often.

We talked about how important it is to duplicate as this gets the picture moving.

Tip: If you duplicate a frame more than once this will slow the movement down.

Week 1 - Year 0/1 Anzac

Welcome back.

Seen as this week the school will be doing a focus on ANZAC day I decided to stick with this theme for the first week also.

The Year 2 children drew a picture of a poppy and wrote a short sentence about what it was. We discussed what ANZAC day was about and what a poppy was and looked at some images of them. We had to use the pencil in Kid Pix to draw the picture then fill it using the tin. We remembered that the pictures needed to be joint if we were using paint tin. Here is some of our drawings:

ICT Timetable TERM 2

Term 2 - ICT Focus

Well the two weeks holidays flew by. It's now time to get back into things and continue our learning.

This term most areas have a focus on learning about animals. So in ICT we will be learning lots of interesting new ways to work with the theme being animals. The Year 0/1 s will look at drawing their own pictures using Kid Pix and adding some text that explain their animal. Year 2 have a focus of information reports so will use Kidspiration to gather and then present their information and drawing all our own pictures. The Year 3s are also looking at animals and will be using Kidspiration also to draw, label and describe their animal. The Year 4s are looking at advertising so will be using I Can Animate to make a short advert that will sell their castles that they will be making.
